The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies.

Activity 1
GGGI works on a range of adaptation policy with member countries including NDC enhancements and National Adaptation Plans.
Case for Activity 1
In Sri Lanka, GGGI is supporting the development of the National Adaptation Plan through GCF Readiness funding. GGGI is supporting 14 NAPs worldwide as of 2023.
Activity 2
GGGI supports member country governments to seek financing from bilateral and multilateral donors for adaptation-related project financing.
Case for Activity 2
GGGI is enabling member countries to secure project financing for adaptation work. One example is in Guyana where GGGI has been working with the Korean Forestry Service to secure a $3.0M grant for developing green-grey infrastructure on Guyana’s coast to protect from coastal flooding.
Activity 3
Through GGGI’s country office structure, GGGI implements adaptation projects globally with member countries.
Case for Activity 3
In Uzbekistan GGGI is currently implementing the Green Rehabilitation Investment Project for Karakalpakstan Republic to Address Impacts of the Aral Sea Crisis project which supports local communities in the Aral Sea region to adapt to a changing climate.
Central Kalimantan photo: GGGI Indonesia has been working closely with the Provincial Government of Central Kalimantan supporting effective policymaking and planning to drive reduced deforestation and peatland degradation in the province, particularly in Utar Serapat which consists of 107,000 ha of peatlands. GGGI Indonesia also supports Central Kalimantan in mobilizing public and private investment for sustainable and inclusive landscape-based projects designed to achieve low carbon development in the province.
East Kalimantan photo: Indonesia’s Province of East Kalimantan Jurisdictional Emission Reduction Program will provide incentive for protecting one of the world’s largest and most biodiverse tropical rainforest and will potentially mobilize USD 110 million Result-Based Payment through the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility-Carbon Fund (FCPF-CF).
